THE YACHT

How big can a dream be?

In this case, a generous 18 × 9 meters (59 × 29.5 feet).

The design of the catamaran itself offers life quality: a lot of space on board, a large salon, spacious cabins and numerous sunbathing areas. For adventurers, there is also a lot of additional storage space for water toys, SUPs and kayaks. Due to the low draft, one can travel into shallow bays and anchor relatively close to land. In addition, catamarans can turn, thanks to their 2 independent engines, almost on the spot.

EQUIPMENT AND FLOOR PLANS

TECHNOLOGY

As a completely electrically operated yacht, the SILENT DREAM is a pioneer on the world’s oceans.

What does that mean for performance and comfort?

With the SILENT DREAM’S onboard, environmentally friendly solar power production, you can sail as far as 20 nautical miles on a beautiful summer day in the Mediterranean, cool your cabin down for a comfortable night of sleep, prepare lunch, drink several espressos, run the washing machine, listen to music on the entire ship, pull ice cubes out of the freezer for your sundowner drink and illuminate the ship in the evening – without consuming a single gallon of diesel.

Pure life quality with a good ecological conscience.

Innovation in numbers – Technical data

  • Length: 17.99 m (59 ft)
  • Beam: 8.99 m (29.5 ft)
  • Ocean-going
  • Effortless maneuvering, even in shallow waters, thanks to the low draft of 0.90 m (3 ft)
  • Cruising speed: 4-7 kt
  • Top speed: 11 kt

In principle, you can travel around the world with self-generated electricity. Of course, that depends on a variety of parameters, such as speed, for example. If the self-generated electricity is not enough to get you to your day’s destination, it can be generated with the “Range Extender”, the onboard diesel generator.

Energy consumption on the move (without the kite system):

  • 3 knots = 6 kWh
  • 4.5 knots = 10 kWh
  • 6 knots = 20 kWh
  • 10 knots = 80 kWh
  • 16 kWP solar panels
  • The photovoltaic system supplies 16 kWP (kilowatt peak) of self-generated electricity
  • The average electricity production on a summer day in the Mediterranean is about 100 kWh per day
  • Lithium-batteries with a capacity of 210 kWh
  • The battery charging system allows nighttime travel
  • Volvo-Penta marine diesel infinitely adjustable
  • The generator feeds the batteries, the consumption is approx. the following:
  • 50 kWh electricity production = consumption 16.5 liters (4.4 gallons)
  • 100 kWh electricity production = consumption 30 liters (7.9 gallons)
  • The diesel tank’s capacity is max. 1,600 liters (423 gallons)

The kite is launched into the water, the towing system lifts it out of the water up to 100 meters (328 feet) high. At those heights, the wind is stronger and can pull the boat with a speed of up to 4 knots through the water.

Fresh water system

  • 4 x 500 Liter (4 x 132 gallons)
  • Unlimited freshwater supply due to an osmotic seawater desalination system (280 liters/h / 74 gal/h)

There are two bow thrusters, one located on starboard, and one located on port for even better maneuverability

  • Modern navigation system with auto pilot
  • infrared camera
  • RC-Dockmate for comfortable “parking”
  • radar system

COOK

”Ever since I was young, I have loved to cook. After finishing high school I went to Barcelona to study at the prestigious Eshob cooking school. During that period I also worked in some of the best restaurants in the city like Coure. After finishing my studies I started working at yacht industry and since then I have had five years of experience.

Off season I spend time traveling and being inspired by the gastronomy of the countries I visit, apart from that I had a great passion for music and djing.“

Nico Gormsen

CEO

“Convinced of the need to use innovative, solar-electric technology on the water, too, I commissioned the construction of the SILENT DREAM in 2020. The holistic approach of sailing sustainably and self-sufficiently with solar and wind power, without forgoing the comfort of a yacht, excited me. I would like to share this excitement. Therefore, I am chartering out the SILENT DREAM, complete with a Cook and a Captain who knows the catamaran and the waters by heart – and will guarantee a smooth trip.”

Anything from one day to several weeks is possible.

We are happy to organize events on board of the SILENT DREAM.
From company events and private meetings to “Sunset Cruises”
– (almost) everything is possible.

Dates during the high season are always in high demand. Therefore, it is advisable to charter your vacation on board the SILENT DREAM as early as possible. Currently, there are no other providers who offer electric catamarans for charter. However, booking gaps happen from time to time. That’s why we are happy about any inquiry.

There are multiple flight and ferry connections to Sardinia every day. We are happy to organize transfers from the airport, port or hotel to the SILENT DREAM.

The SILENT DREAM can only be chartered with our own Captain and Cook. Of course, you can lend a hand yourself on board at any time, but that’s not a must.

With the combination of photovoltaic system, kite system and Range Extender (diesel generator) the range of the SILENT DREAM is virtually unlimited.

The SILENT DREAM is approx. 18 meters (59 ft) long and 9 meters (29.5 ft) wide.
The overall living and deck space is approx. 240 sq m (2583 sq. ft).

The SILENT DREAM travels at a cruising speed of 4-7 knots.
The top speed is 11 knots.

Yes, the SILENT DREAM is absolutely seaworthy.

Our team always speaks English and German. Other languages can be covered by booking additional service personnel.

We meet the highest standards in environmental protection and safety on board. Nevertheless, we undergo an annual independent examination by the “Deutsche BG Dienststelle Schiffssicherheit” (“German BG Ship Safety Department”) to guarantee our passengers a safe time on board.

Let’s assume you want to travel up the western coast of Mallorca. You leave Sant Elm at 9 am on a bright summer day, and head toward your destination, Port de Soller, for an overnight stay. The distance is about 22 nautical miles. The batteries are 50% charged.

At a cruising speed of 5 knots and the corresponding power consumption of 13 kWh, you need about 65 kWh electricity for the trip. On top of that, the SILENT DREAM uses approx. 2 kWh to operate the refrigerator, lights, music system, oven, coffee maker and basic electrical system. In 24 hours, this adds up to a power consumption of 48 kWh. In the evening you decide to cool down the cabins before you go to bed, which consumes around 5kWh electricity. Thus, the power consumption for this whole day amounts to approx. 118 kWh.

During the day, the SILENT DREAM produces approx. 100 kWh via its own solar panels. In the example above, you would use the generator for approx. 30 minutes at 50 kWh electricity production to compensate for the additional consumption. This procedure will use approx. 8 liters (2.1 gallons) of diesel. Altogether you have used 8 liters (2.1 gallons) of diesel to travel 22 nautical miles, while using all amenities on board.

The power consumption is subject to various external influences and changes with faster cruising speed, cloudy weather, tours in spring or fall, or with the intensive use of the air conditioning system. In those cases, the generator can be used at any time to compensate for the additional consumption.

For shorter trips, however, complete independence from the generator is absolutely possible.

We charter out the SILENT DREAM for a maximum of 6 adult passengers, accommodated in 3 big cabins. The fourth cabin and the compartment below deck in the bow are reserved for crew members. Additionally, young children can travel when sleeping in their parents’ beds in their cabins.

Ship and Skipper meet the BG and ISAF guidelines. Ports, thus hospitals, are always in reach within a few hours. A defibrillator is on board.
